Glorious Thunder

We are enjoying the first thunderstorm the South has had in weeks of post 100 degree temperatures. It is glorious to see the buckets of rain pouring from the roof. As always, God will bring the rain, eventually. My harvest is early and incomplete this year. I have already pulled the different bean vines having only reaped enough beans and peas for one pot of spicy bean soup. It will be a good one though. The cucumbers yielded two fruits before the vine completely gave up. The squash yielded three fruits and the zucchini none before the vines turned to mush. I guess the sum total of the value of my produce is the experience and knowledge I gained for this first season. I am waiting a few more weeks for the temps to calm down to our September normal. I will clean out and fertilize the beds and plant fall crops when there is a bit of coolness to the air.

For the moment, though, I will enjoy the electric excitement of this glorious nasty storm.
